Mala Akbari

Introduction

Introduction

A one-of-a-kind fine dining experience rooted in ancient Indian cuisine, culture, and craft for the modern guest.

Summary

Summary

Mala Akbari combines Indian heritage recipes with sustainable, locally sourced ingredients, turning every dish into a cultural narrative of taste, craft, and storytelling. Our task was to translate this philosophy into a cohesive brand identity system that would resonate across every guest interaction. We crafted a visual language drawing from India’s rich cultural past and culinary wisdom. The branding extended across the restaurant’s identity, menus, collaterals, and in-space touchpoints.

Vision

Vision

To embody the richness of India’s ancient past while feeling timeless and relevant today.

The name Mala-Akbari (literally translating to “A Garland for Akbar”) evokes grandeur, heritage, and the cultural flourish of India’s Mughal era. This became the anchor point for the brand’s storytelling.

Solution

Solution

India’s first script, reimagined for fine dining.

We drew inspiration from Brahmi script, one of the earliest writing systems of the Indian subcontinent, to craft a bespoke logotype.

Final thoughts

Final thoughts

An identity that connects deeply with India’s linguistic and cultural roots.

The identity for Mala-Akbari is a bridge between eras. Much like the restaurant itself where traditional recipes are reimagined for today’s palate, the brand identity translates India’s ancient richness into an identity that reinforces the sense of being part of something larger than a meal: a journey into India’s layered past, retold for the present.
