Rethinking, redesigning, and building GoDAM’s MVP.

GODAM is a digital asset management platform that helps teams store, organise, find and share their digital assets: images, video, documents, all in one place. As the platform grew, the product needed a clear identity, a product experience that made complex workflows feel simple, and a public presence that explained its value in seconds.

About the Project

We partnered with GoDAM to simplify digital asset management for wordpress, through product audits, competitor research, and user journey mapping. From onboarding to core features, we designed intuitive workflows to bring the product to MVP.

Onboarding Experience

GoDAM’s onboarding was slow and left users to figure things out on their own. We redesigned it with a guided product tour and simpler sign-up flow, helping users get started in under 10 minutes.

Here's how we did it:

  • Faster Onboarding: Replaced key-based activation with one-click Google Sign-In and a single free-trial option.

  • Simpler onboarding: Consolidated the setup into a two-panel screen within WordPress, reducing a 10-minute process to seconds.

  • Guided product tour: Created a skippable, hands-on walkthrough that takes users from learning the editor to publishing their first video.

  • WooCommerce onboarding: Added a tailored guide that introduces users to relevant premium features.

Video Editor Redesign

Despite its powerful capabilities, the video editor felt fragmented and hard to navigate. We made it easier for users to edit videos, manage layers, track performance, and publish directly to WordPress.

Here's what we did:

  • Clearer dashboard: Made video sources, editing status, and transcoding progress visible at a glance.

  • Unified timeline: Combined video playback and layer timestamps into one view.

  • Scalable navigation: Replaced the three-tab limit with an expandable icon rail.

  • Better editing workspace: Split layer management and configuration into two panels, visible side by side.

  • Transcription: Added transcription as a core editing feature.

  • Guided product tour: Built a skippable, hands-on walkthrough from adding the first layer to publishing a finished video.

  • WooCommerce onboarding: Added a tailored walkthrough highlighting relevant premium features.

Analytics Dashboard

The analytics page showed the numbers, but offered no insight into what they meant or what to do next.

Here's how we solved it:

  • Deeper analytics: Enabled users to drill down into plays, play rate, and watch time for more meaningful insights.

  • Detailed video reports: Expanded video-level metrics to give users a clearer picture of performance.

  • Traffic source breakdowns: Made it easier to understand where video views came from.

  • Performance comparisons: Added clearer comparisons to help users evaluate video performance.

  • Sales attribution: Connected video engagement with WooCommerce purchases to show how videos contribute to conversions.

Reel Pops Experience

We turned Reel Pop into a centralised, reusable video merchandising tool.

Here's how:

  • Centralised management: Created a dedicated space to manage all Reel Pops across the store.

  • Reusable configurations: Enabled teams to set up Reel Pops once and reuse them across multiple pages.

  • Live previews and customisation: Added shape controls and previews to see how Reel Pops look before publishing.

  • Flexible video ordering: Made it easy to rearrange videos without deleting and re-uploading them.

  • Smarter product linking: Enabled more flexible video-to-product associations for WooCommerce stores.

Final thoughts

We went beyond the interface, getting into the details of how GoDAM worked, what users needed, and where the product could do better. That helped us tackle a substantial chunk of the product and bring it to MVP in a short time.
